Under 18s goalkeeper Kelland Absalom receives Wales Under 17s call up.

Wigan Athletic youth team goalkeeper Kelland Absalom has been called up for the Wales Under 17s squad which travel to Belarus this month, taking part in a UEFA Under 17s tournament.

This is the second time Absalom has received an international call up from Wales since signing for Latics in the summer, having featured in a 5-0 victory against Malta in September.

Wales will play three fixtures in Belarus, the first on Sunday 19 October against Russia, before taking on the hosts Belarus on Tuesday 21 October and finally Montenegro on Friday 24 October.

Upon the news, Academy Manager Gregor Rioch said:

"It's great to see Kelland impressed for Wales last month and he's deservedly earned himself a place in the Under 17 squad again.

"He's one of three of our youth team to be recognised internationally in the last two months, and once again it just goes to show how much our academy is progressing."
