Wigan Athletic's Under 18 goalkeeping duo of Kelland Absalom and Owen Evans have continued their progression on the youth international stage, as Absalom featured for Wales' Under 17s in a recent UEFA tournament in Belarus, with Evans receiving a call up to represent the Under 19s in a similar tournament in Portugal.
Absalom, 16, featured in all three of Wales' Under 17s games in Belarus earlier this month; keeping a clean sheet against Russia in a 0-0 draw, tasting defeat 2-1 to Belarus, before ending the tournament with a 2-1 win over Montenegro.
Evans, 17, has received a call up for games to be played against Portugal (12 November), Denmark (14 November) and Albania (17 November).
The Newport-born stopper made his Wales Under 19s debut in September in a 3-1 victory over Montenegro.
Academy Manager Gregor Rioch has been delighted with the progress of both young goalkeepers, saying:
"This is great news for Owen. To be recognised by his country is brilliant, especially for a tournament like this.
"Kelland did really well for the Under 17s and the experience he gained will be crucial for his development in the Academy.
"International call ups like these are are big sign of where we want to take the Academy in the future and a testament to the hard work being put in."
