Wigan Athletic's Under 18s goalkeeper Owen Evans made his youth international debut for Wales' Under 19 side last night, playing the full 90 minutes in a confident 3-1 victory over Montenegro in Bar, Montenegro.
Evans, who joined Latics this summer, follows in the footsteps of Callum McManaman, Lee Nicholls and Rob Kiernan, who have all featured for their countries at some stage during their Latics careers, over Under 19, 20 and 21 age groups.
The 17-year-old was called up at the end of last month, having kept two clean sheets in two appearances for Latics.
Evans also played at the weekend in Latics' Youth Alliance Cup victory over Hartlepool United, saving a penalty in the 5-4 shootout win.
Wales will face their second of two friendlies on Thursday 4 September, with new coach David Hughes hoping to build on his side's victory.
