Latics were more than unfortunate to only come away with a point from this one, as Burnley grabbed a second half equaliser following Louis Robles goals just six minutes into the contest, a contest which saw Latics have two goals chalked off.
Robles' sixth strike came early on after a flowing, passing team move resulted in a tidy finish from the striker.
It could have been two, but Sam Cosgrove was judged to have been offside when he tapped in from close range, following an exceptional effort from Alex Cvetkovic that had been tipped onto the cross bar.
A second disallowed goal would soon follow in a half which Latics completely dominated, this time James Barrigan was one the receiving end of the linesman's flag after Cosgrove's clever hold up play and pass played the wide man in for a well taken finish.
Burnley equalised 10 minutes after half time, when Shaun Hobson met a floated corner to head home the equaliser.
Latics: Evans, Burke, Balogun, Anson (Stubbs 85), Harrison, Merrie, Redmayne, Cvetkovic, Cosgrove (Lang 79), Robles (Sang 75), Barrigan
