“We have to put things right” is the message from James Perch ahead of the clash with his former club Nottingham Forest at the DW Stadium.

Speaking to Latics Player, Perch said:

“Our performances haven’t been good enough this season and we as players must improve, we have to put things right.

“We’ve underperformed and we must go out there and get the win.

“We’re blessed that games come thick and fast in this league and we’ve got the chance quite quickly after the weekend to try and put things right.”

Perch himself is in line for his 50th league appearance for Latics, just over a year after making his debut in blue and white.

The defender reflects on that achievement in the matchday programme for the game tomorrow night, as well as his time at the City Ground.

“50 league games? Wow, that’s gone quickly,” Perch said in his matchday programme interview.

“That’s the Championship for you, when there are games Saturday, Tuesday, Saturday, it soon mounts up. But that’s fine, you get on with it.

“From a personal point of view, it was a big honour to be chosen by my fellow pros as player of the season but for me I just do what I do and if that’s good enough to keep me in the team, then great.”
