Gaetan Bong and Scott Carson join in with Easter football camp.
Children playing football at Wigan Athletic Community Trust’s Easter Latics Soccer School received a surprise visit from two of their Latics heroes last Thursday – Gaetan Bong and Scott Carson!
The players joined in with the 20 junior footballers in a tackle and shoot session - Gaetan slotting into the defenders position to show them his tackling skills and Scott in net to try and stop the shots that got through.
Wigan Athletic Community Trust run three football and dance camps at several locations across Wigan throughout the school holidays, including Latics Soccer Schools, Pay as you Play football and Latics Dance Camps, where children can make friends, learn new skills and most importantly, have fun!
Scott said: “It’s always an enjoyable part of the job being able to come down and work with kids at camps like this.
“For the children to be able to come down here, in a safe environment where their parents know where they are, and learn skills that make them better footballers is brilliant.”
Gaetan then joined the youngsters in a free kick competition, giving them tips to try and score a goal past Scott.
Tommy Ridyard, 10, said: “Having Scott and Gaetan come down today was fantastic, I scored a free kick against Scott Carson and that’s something you don’t get to say every day!
“I’ve been down to the Soccer School about ten or eleven times now and it’s great every time. I love coming down, seeing my mates and learning new skills.”
