11 April 2015

Are you leaving school this summer with dreams of going into a career coaching football and sport?

Wigan Athletic Community Trust have two fantastic sports education programmes for 16-18 year olds that start this September – and places are open now!

The Latics Apprenticeship and Train With Latics provide the first steps to working in sports coaching, including valuable experience and qualifications.

Nick Blackledge, a current Latics Apprentice, said: “I always wanted to coach football and after completing the Train With Latics programme I gained a place on the Latics Apprenticeship.

“I’ve learned in a working environment, coaching countless hours of football and sports sessions and working alongside professional coaches, who have all provided me with fantastic help and information – I couldn’t recommend the courses enough!”

Train With Latics is a year-long course that provides the knowledge and skills to be able to plan and lead a range of practical sports activities as well as studying various aspects of sport, to earn a BTEC Level 2 and FA Level One Coaching Badge. Find out more about the programme [here].

The Latics Apprenticeship is a paid 18-month apprenticeship with further chances to work and learn as part of Wigan Athletic Community Trust and gain a range of industry recognised qualifications. Find out more about the programme [here].
