Youth Team leading goal scorer Louis Robles has won the Michael Millett Youth Team Player of the Year for 2015, sponsored by Cliffe Packaging.
The award was presented at The Dinner With Dave Whelan event at the DW Stadium.
Robles has featured for both Peter Atherton’s Under 18s and Joe Parkinson’s Development Squad throughout the campaign, scoring 30 goals in 48 appearances.
The Liverpool-born striker is following in the footsteps of current first team midfielder Tim Chow, who won the award at the end of the 2010/11 season.
Academy Manager Gregor Rioch, along with Phil Dawber of Cliffe Packaging presented the award, with Rioch saying:
“Louis is a shining example on and off the pitch of what everyone at Wigan Athletic is striving to achieve.
“He’s a leader in both senses too, wearing the armband and scoring 30 goals in the process, including a hat-trick in the recent Lancashire FA Youth Cup final.”
Louis was rewarded for his efforts in his second year as a scholar at the club, being offered a professional contract in March.
The Award is named in memory of Michael Millett, the former Latics midfielder who was tragically killed in a road accident in 1995, aged just 17. This year marks the 20th anniversary of Michael’s tragic death.
