Community Trust looking for Wigan 10K runners.

Wigan Athletic Community Trust are looking for a team to run the Wigan 10K on September 6th 2015, to raise money for the vital work that they complete in the Wigan community.

Those who sign up to run on behalf of the Community Trust will receive free entry into the race, a commemorative t-shirt and the chance to attend training sessions.

All that runners have to do is try to raise a minimum of £100 each in donations ahead of the race – the runner who raises the highest amount will also receive two fully-paid hospitality places at a Wigan Athletic home game in the 2015/16 season!

All of the money raised from the run will go towards continuing the award-winning work of the Community Trust that is provided to over 10,000 people every year.

A team of 25 runners took part in the 2014 Wigan 10K, raising a fantastic £2,500 in sponsorship money.

Several of this year’s places have already been filled by men taking part on the Community Trust’s men’s health programme, Fit Fans, as well as by staff and volunteers at the Trust.

The Fit Fans that have signed up to run the Wigan 10K have all completed the free 12-week fitness and health programme, that encourages men over the age of 25 to become more active and to review their eating and drinking habits in order to lead a healthier lifestyle.

Ian Ainscough, who ran last year raising money for the Community Trust, said: “Having taken part in the Trust’s Fit Fans programme, I wanted to run the Wigan 10K to maintain my training.

“When I was asked to run and raise money for the Community Trust, I was more than happy to do so, in order to help continue the fantastic work that they do for so many people in Wigan.”
