Take a closer look at Jussi Jaaskelainen's career so far.

1. Jussi Jaaskelainen was born on 19 April 1975 in Mikkeli, Finland.  He becomes the first of his countrymen to sign for Latics.

2. He began his career with local club MP Mikelli in 1992, before moving the VPS Vaasa in 1996.

3. In 1997, Jaaskelainen was brought to England by then Bolton Wanderers manager Colin Todd.

4. Jaaskelainen played 529 times in all competitions for Bolton from 1997 until his departure in 2012.

5. Whilst with the Trotters, Jaaskelainen was a League Cup runner-up, won promotion to the Premier League, and twice appeared in FA Cup semi-finals.

6. After leaving Bolton in 2012, the goalkeeper joined West Ham United, making 61 appearances in all competitions before his contract expired this summer.

7. Jaaskelainen has featured in 16 games against Latics, 14 for Bolton and two for West Ham.

8. He has made 110 Premier League clean sheets during his career.

9. Jaaskelainen made his international debut for Finland on 25 March 1998 against Malta, and went on to collect 56 caps, the last of which came in October 2010 against Hungary.

10. Jussi's son, William, is following in his father's footsteps and currently plays in goal for Bolton's Under 18 team.
