The 23-year-old has started all three league matches for Gary Caldwell so far this season, and the Latics boss is delighted to be able to keep the player until at least the turn of the year.
“Cisco has been a revelation since he’s arrived,” he said. “When we found out there was a possibility of extending the loan, it was something I was very keen to get sorted.
“He gives us something different in the middle of the park and complements very well the other players we have in that department. His attitude has been spot on and he has blended very well into the group.”
Junior arrived at the club alongside fellow Goodison Park loanee Jonjoe Kenny on the day the players set out for their pre-season trip to Scotland in July, initially on a month-long loan which ended after Wednesday’s victory against Scunthorpe United.
A product of the world-renowned Benfica academy, he signed for Everton in 2012 and has spent time on loan in Holland with Vitesse Arnhem, in Norway for Stromsgodset before a brief spell at the end of last season at Port Vale. He has made one first team appearance for Everton in his time at Goodison Park, in a 2-1 defeat to Leeds United in the League Cup in 2012.
