Jonjoe Kenny and Francisco Junior helped round off a fantastic summer of Wigan Athletic Community Trust Soccer Schools at Wigan Youth Zone yesterday.
The Latics duo, who are currently at the club on loan from Everton, joined in with 15 youngsters in a skill session led by the Community Trust coaches, followed by a 2 versus 2 defending activity.
Junior said: “It’s always good to come and join in with the children at camps like this.
“There are a lot of children around the world who don’t have the same opportunities as these youngsters here have, that’s why it’s nice to be around them giving something back and being able to pass on some advice where I can.”
Jonjoe added: “It’s brilliant that sessions like this are running throughout the school holidays, so that even when the kids are off school they’ve got the chance to come down and play football in this great setup.”
As part of the Community Trust’s football project at Wigan Youth Zone, Trust coaches run six weeks of football camps, as well as evening football coaching sessions, throughout the year.
Over 300 youngsters have taken part in the Soccer Schools this summer at seven different locations around Wigan, including Wigan Youth Zone, as well as a weeklong camp on the Isle of Man.
Details of the next holiday camps, which will take place in October, will be confirmed in due course.
