Alex Revell returns to his parent club Cardiff City.

Wigan Athletic can confirm that experienced striker Alex Revell has returned to his parent club Cardiff City after six weeks on loan at the DW Stadium.

The 32-year-old scored the winning goal against Shrewsbury Town and made seven appearances in all competitions, two from the substitutes bench.

He said: “I want to thank everyone at the club, the fans and all the players, who made me so welcome. It’s a great club, it’s been great to me and I hope you get the reward of promotion this season.”

Revell made his debut in a Latics shirt at Rochdale in Sky Bet League One, and came off the bench on Saturday against Barnsley for his final appearance.
