THE JOHNSTONE’S PAINT TROPHY WILL BE AT THE DW FOR BARNSLEY MATCH

1 December 2015

Supporters will get the chance to see the JPT Trophy before Saturday’s match against Barnsley.

  • Latics play Barnsley in the JPT Northern Area Semi-Final on Saturday 5 December.
  • JPT Trophy will be in the South Stand prior to the match.
  • Win a signed Latics shirt selfie competition on the day.
Wigan Athletic fans will have the chance to get up close and personal with the Johnstone’s Paint Trophy this coming Saturday 5 December, when Latics take on Barnsley on the JPT Northern Area Semi-Final at the DW Stadium.

With adult tickets priced at just £5.00, and Under 18s £1.00, a big crowd is expected on the day as Latics attempt to move a step closer to Wembley.

Supporters will be invited to have their picture taken with the trophy ahead of the game, with the silverware being on display in the South Stand Supporters Club Bar from 1.30pm.

Anyone who posts a selfie with the trophy on the Johnstone’s Paint Trophy Facebook page or @JohnstonesPaint on Twitter will be entered into a random prize draw to win a Wigan shirt signed by the first team squad.

The activity forms the latest part of special celebrations to mark the tenth year of Johnstone’s Paint sponsoring the Football League Trophy.

Ahead of Saturday's meeting Gary Caldwell said:

“This is a competition we are taking seriously and we know now that if we were to get through this match, then Wembley is just one two legged tie away – that’s a great incentive because to play in a Wembley final is always a special moment for any player or supporter.

“With the game against Barnsley being switched to a Saturday, and the admission prices being kept really low, we are hoping that fans will come out in their numbers to cheer on the players.”

Richard Mazurkiewicz, marketing manager of Johnstone’s Trade, said:

“Wembley is now within touching distance for all the teams left in the Johnstone’s Paint Trophy and there is a big prize just three games away.

“Having the trophy at the game will provide fans with an extra pre-match attraction and we look forward to inviting supporters to have their picture taken with the trophy, and giving themselves a chance to win a signed Wigan shirt.

“We are extremely proud to have been sponsoring the competition for 10 years and look forward to a thrilling end to the season.”

The nearest Johnstone’s Decorating Centre to the DW Stadium is based on the Clayton Street Industrial Estate off Wallgate, WN3 4DA.
