The curtain is being drawn on a fine career for Wigan Athletic legend Arjan De Zeeuw next month, when the Detective Inspector plays his final game for the Dutch National Police in a special 'Telstar-monial' match against his first professional club SC Telstar.
Former Telstar and career team mates will face the Dutch Police on Friday 20 March, with a 5.45pm kick off at the Telstar Stadium, followed by Telstar v PSV II in the Dutch Jupiler League at 8.00pm. Tickets are €10 and can be purchased at the Telstar Stadium or by contacting firstname.lastname@example.org
Since retiring from the professional game, De Zeeuw has been serving in the Dutch Police, and captained their football team in last year's European Championships in Prague, Czech Republic.
De Zeeuw played over 500 games throughout his career, including 206 for Latics during his two spells with the club from 1999-2002 and 2005-2007.
The former club captain will be joined in this special fixture by former Latics midfielder Denny Landzaat, as well as former team mates from clubs such as Barnsley, Portsmouth and Coventry City.
Telstar is where it all began for De Zeeuw, where he made 102 appearances before moving to England with Barnsley in 1995.
Ahead of his final game, De Zeeuw left a message for Latics fans, saying:
"I am so proud to have played for this fantastic club, and in front of a truly special group of supporters and people in Wigan. I'll be a Latic forever."
