Preview

Following last week’s 4-0 defeat away to an experienced Shrewsbury Town side, Latics are out on the road again, this time facing Tranmere Rovers at Vauxhall Motors’ Rivacre Park.

Previous to the loss at Shrewsbury Sports Arena, Latics were four unbeaten in the FTDL, but coupled with a Port Vale victory earlier in the day, Joe Parkinson’s side are now second in the division, two points behind the Valiants.

In the reverse fixture at Christopher Park, the sides shared six goals in a 3-3 draw which saw Andy Delort, Martyn Waghorn and Jordan Flores all hit the target.

More recently, Latics hosted Tranmere at Robin Park Arena in the FTDL Cup, claiming a comfortable 4-0 victory thanks to goals from Matty Hamilton, Declan Poole, Delort and Flores.

Today’s opponents are currently sixth in the league on five points from five games.
