LEON CLARKE 'COULD BE BACK' - MACKAY

24 February 2015

Second scan reveals Leon Clarke has no fracture to shoulder blade.

Latics manager Malky Mackay revealed in his post Cardiff City match press conference that after undergoing a ‘second, deeper scan’, on-loan striker Leon Clarke has not suffered any fracture to his shoulder blade as was first feared after being stretchered off during Friday night’s match versus Charlton Athletic.

“The good news is that Leon has not broken his shoulder blade as we first feared,” Mackay said, “and that it is actually a muscle injury, albeit a serious one.

“How quickly he heals from here is impossible to say, but let’s just say that muscles get better more quickly than cracked bones and we’re hopeful that he could be back for us this season. It’s certainly some positive news for the football club.”
