Latics v Bournemouth dedicated Kick It Out match.

This Saturday’s home game against Bournemouth at the DW Stadium is Latics dedicated Kick It Out match, in support of football’s equality and inclusion charity, as part of its ‘Season of Action’.

Before the game, players from both teams will be warming up in Kick It Out t-shirts to show their support for the campaign and all this week we will be highlighting the Club’s work around equality and diversity on

In May last year, the Club was awarded the Preliminary level of Kick It Out’s Equality Standard for Professional Football Clubs, which provides a framework that encourages and supports the development of equality practices and policies at professional clubs.

Under the banner of ‘Together’, Latics work to promote the DW Stadium as a family friendly environment, for people of any background to watch football, while through its charity, Wigan Athletic Community Trust, it runs sports, health and education projects that reach thousands of people a year across Wigan.

Chief Executive Jonathan Jackson said: “As a Football Club, Wigan Athletic will be proud to support the Kick It Out campaign on Saturday.

“The Club’s stance on equality and diversity goes right across our staff and players and into the community, through the work of our excellent Community Trust.

“Last year, Kick It Out acknowledged this by awarding us the Preliminary Level of their Equality Standard and we are now working towards the next level, the Intermediate Award, which we hope to achieve by the end of the year.”
