10 FACTS ABOUT CHRIS HERD

1. Born in Melbourne, Australia on 4 April 1989.  The same day Latics draw 1-1 away to Chesterfield in Division Three, with Paul Beesley on the score sheet.

2. Herd made his professional debut on 12 January 2008 for Port Vale in a 3-1 victory against Millwall.

3. Chris made his Aston Villa/Premier League debut as a late substitute in a 2-2 against Manchester United at Villa Park on 13 November 2010.

4. Made his first Premier League start in a Midlands derby against Wolverhampton Wanderers on 19 March 2011.

5. The 25-year-old has featured twice against Latics, as a late substitute on 25 January 2011 and started in Latics 3-0 win at Villa Park on 29 December 2012.

6. On 7 April 2012 Herd scored his first goal for Villa, a memorable one at Anfield just 10 minutes in.  The game finished 1-1, with Herd going on to make 20 appearances during the campaign.

7. Joining Latics is Herd's fifth loan move, having played for Port Vale, Wycombe Wanderers, Lincoln City and most recently Bolton Wanderers at the start of the 2014/15 season.

8. On 11 January 2011, Herd was heavily involved in a remarkable 10-1 victory for Villa's reserves against Arsenal, grabbing himself a hat-trick.  (Watch his goals below at 3.09, 5.58 and 9.03.)



9. Herd was first capped by his country Australia by the Under 20s, making his debut in the 2009 Under 20 World Cup.

10. He made his senior international debut against Belgium in September 2014, and went on to feature in friendlies against Saudi Arabia and Qatar.
