The 31 year old ends a three and a half year spell at Latics which saw him win the FA Cup and inspire some memorable victories
On Maloney's departure, manager Malky Mackay said:
“Sometimes in football, you have to recognise that a move is for the benefit of all parties. Shaun is nearing the end of his contract and as a club we had to make a decision.
“It was a great opportunity for him personally and this made sense from everyone’s perspective.
“We need players who are 100% focused on being here and helping the club.
“We have a responsibility to do what is best for the long term interests of the football club and he leaves with our blessing and best wishes for the future.”
Maloney was signed from Celtic in August 2011, and it took him six months to really make an impact. He came on as a substitute at Norwich City and turned the game before inspiring the incredible end to the season that saw Latics beating the likes of Liverpool, Arsenal and Manchester United.
He missed a large proportion of last season following hip surgery and leaves having made 79 league appearances, scoring 14 goals; 91 in total, scoring 15 goals.
