Winger speaks for the first time after signing for Latics from Bolton.

Sanmi Odelusi completed his move from Bolton Wanderers to Wigan Athletic yesterday, with the 22-year-old winger signing a three year deal at the DW Stadium as Gary Caldwell furthered his summer recruitment ahead of the 2015-16 Sky Bet League One campaign.

Odelusi spoke to Latics PlayerHD about the move, and says he’s started to settle in quickly in a very positive environment.

“I’m delighted to be here and I’d like to thank everyone for having me, it’s a big move for me.

“I’ve trained with the team a few times now and all the boys are great.  It’s a new squad but it seems to be gelling really quickly.

“The senior players have been a big help, there are a lot of young players like myself in the team and they’ve already helped us to learn more about the club.”

With experience playing in the first team for Bolton, as well as on loan in League One with MK Dons and latterly Coventry City last season, Odelusi says he’s grateful to his new manager for the chance to return to the division.

“I’ve only just turned 22, but I feel like I’ve got some good experience behind me with my time at MK Dons and then last season at Coventry City.

“It’s going to be a good challenge to further that experience and it’s flattering for the gaffer to sign me, it’s going to be good playing under Gary Caldwell.

“The main reason I signed is because I want to play first team football, with the faith being put in me I now want to do well for the club and repay everyone.”

Odelusi continued:

“The league is extremely demanding on players physically, but at the same time we’re going to need a lot of quality, goals and a strong team unit.

“I’m looking to bring a direct approach and a lot of pace and power, and also to try and chip in with some goals as well.

“We’re all working really hard in training at the moment and we can’t wait to get going, it just so happens that the first game of the season is back at my old club Coventry, it would be nice to go back and come away with three points.”
