Both players were at Latics’ pre-season match against Southport but did not feature and travelled up to Scotland over the weekend to discuss terms at Ibrox after a fee was agreed between the two clubs.
Waghorn joined Latics after a brief loan period in January 2014, signing permanently before the end of the season. He leaves having scored eight goals in 38 league appearances, which includes 17 times as a substitute. He also featured as a substitute in both Play-Off games against QPR and in the League Cup tie at Burton Albion last season.
Tavernier arrived from Newcastle United in the Summer of 2014, having spent the previous season on loan at Rotherham United. He began the season under Uwe Rosler but after falling out of favour, spent the second half of last season at Bristol City. He made just 11 league appearances in total, four as a substitute, also appearing in the FA Cup and League Cup against Bolton Wanderers and Burton Albion respectively.
