It's been a busy pre-season so far for Latics, with seven new additions to the squad: David Perkins, Richard O'Donnell, Craig Morgan, Donervon Daniels, Max Power, Sanmi Odelusi and Craig Davies.

Gary Caldwell will be more than satisfied with his team's start to preparations ahead of the new Sky Bet League One campaign, after a week in La Manga improving their fitness, as well as collecting two victories in practice matches against Queen of the South and Hibernian.

Following tonight's match, Latics will travel to Southport on Saturday, before a trip to Scotland to face Partick Thistle and Dundee.

Altrincham have been hard at work too in the last few weeks, facing their first two pre-season friendlies without conceding a goal, following a 0-0 draw away to Abbey Hey and a 1-0 win away at Bamber Bridge.

Our only two professional meetings have come in the FA Cup with mixed results.  Last time out Latics were eliminated from the competition in the second round after a 1-0 away defeat in 1994, seven years on from their 2-0 victory in 1987, which saw John Butler and Bobby Campbell hit the target.

Non-league meetings were much easier to come by, as Latics and Altrincham faced off 50 times in league matches from 1932 to 1978.  The Robins just edge the head-to-head record in league competitions, with 18 victories to Latics' 17, along with 15 draws.
