Gary Caldwell takes players for training day to his home town of Stirling as part of Scotland trip.

  • Wigan Athletic on week-long tour of Scotland.
  • Latics are welcomed by Stirling Albion to the Forthbank Stadium.
Local boy Gary Caldwell returned to his native Stirling this morning to lead a training session at Forthbank Stadium, home of Sirling Albion.

The players were up early following last night’s draw against Partick Thistle, and those players who did not feature heavily at Firhill were put through their paces with a really intense session, while those players who played underwent a recovery session.

“It was a really good work out,” said Caldwell afterwards, “every player was given the appropriate amount of work to do this morning and as has been the case throughout pre-season, their attitude was terrific.”

Caldwell said it was good to be back home, and thanked Albion for their hospitality:

“We had a great welcome from the club, the pitch was excellent, and nothing could have gone any better really, even the sun came out, which is pretty rare up here as I know.”

The players then travelled to St Andrews where they will spend the rest of the week before facing Dundee at Dens Park on Friday Evening.
