The tournament, which was organised for over 50s, saw Blackpool and Crewe progress to the national finals at St. Georges Park.

At the event, Dean Grice from the Football League Trust commented:

For one member of Latics' team, goalkeeper Ivor Morgan, it's been a new lease of life following open heart surgery six years ago.

Ivor was interviewed for BBC North West Tonight, and told report Richard Askam:

"I've always loved playing football and playing Walking Football has given me the chance to compete with other people now, it's been great for me."

Ivor's team mate Tony Bradshaw has lost four stone in just a matter of months and added:

"The comradery, not just between our own team, but with the other teams as well is unbelievable."
