A run-down of away day distances for Latics fans in 2015-16.

Based on stadium-to-stadium round trip calculations, Wigan Athletic fans are set to travel 4,654 miles to back Latics in the 2015-16 Sky Bet League One season, that’s a 1,879 mile decrease from the previous season in the Sky Bet Championship.

Latics’ longest trip will be the 488-mile round trip to Gillingham’s Priestfield Stadium, with the shortest a 43-mile round journey to newly promoted Bury’s JD Stadium.

Travelling in League One should be simpler for supporters, with 15 clubs less than 100 miles away from the DW Stadium and only four clubs situated over 200 miles away.

In 2014-15, 10 clubs in the Championship were based over 200 miles away from home, with 10 less than 100 miles as Latics fans travelled a total of 6533 miles.

Last season longest journey proved to be the 526-mile round trip to Brighton & Hove Albion, with local rivals Bolton Wanderers within the closest proximity at 17.2 miles.
