Two lucky local teams win free match worn kits

Belle Vue Rangers and Centurion AFC were the lucky two teams chosen from the dozens of applicants, after the club announced two full match-worn strips from recent seasons would be given to the two most worthy stories sent to us. Both collected the strips this afternoon from the DW Stadium.

Liam Bache of Belle Vue Rangers, formerly Orwell FC, received a 2013-14 Home kit. The team had a bit of a difficult season, their record is played 22, won 1, drew 5, lost 16, with a goal difference of minus 46.

Liam said: “We’re a group of mates who still go out every week with a smile on our face, put in 110% and enjoy every minute!

“Seven of the team are Latics home and away so pulling on the jersey every week would mean the world to us.” Let’s hope the shirts bring a change of fortune.

Jordan Ardey of Centurion AFC took away the 14-15 Away strip on offer. The side only began this year but have already raised over £600 for Cancer Research.

Jordan has supported Latics for 19 years and says: “Who needs to support the big clubs? Being local and supporting the club I'm very grateful to say I'm from little Wigan.”

Thank you to all the teams who wrote in, we could only pick two alas.
