LATICS FANS HEADING TO AMSTERDAM ON PCUK CYCLE

8 June 2015

Pedals at the ready as Peter and John get set for Amsterdam.

Die hard Latics fans Peter Mulqueeney and John Heeley are putting in a few more hours training before embarking on their sponsored bike ride to from London to Amsterdam in aid of PCUK, part of a nationwide Football League initiative involving supporters from Clubs across the country.

Peter said: “We’d like to thank everyone who has sponsored us including Wigan Athletic and we want to raise as much money as possible for such a worthwhile cause. In the UK one man dies every hour from Prostate Cancer and yet only about half the amount is spent on research compared to women’s cancers.”

John has so far reached an incredible fifth place in the rankings of highest sponsorship and between them, they are also fifth in the Club sponsorship table. And there is still time for you to support them both and boost their sponsorship all in aid of PCUK by clicking on the links below:

If you want to show solidarity with our intrepid explorers, but haven’t signed up for the Amsterdam challenge, there is no need to worry!

Anyone interested in helping raise money can join the ‘Rotary Ride for Prostate Cancer’ on Monday June 15th at Three Sisters Race Track between 3.00pm and 8.00pm.

Organised by Wigan Rotary Club, this FREE family event opens up the mile long race circuit to cyclists of all ages and abilities with the unique opportunity of cycling around the track. Bikes will be available for hire on the day.

It forms part of the ‘Formula Fun’ event organised by Wigan Council and Wigan Leisure and Culture Trust which has loads of other activities taking place on the day.

Wigan Rotary Club President Jim Rawson is encouraging as many people as possible to come and take part:

“It doesn’t matter how many laps you do. It’s an ideal way for all the family to get involved and help raise money for research into this illness that has affected so many people directly or indirectly in the borough. So why not bring the whole family either after school or after tea?”

Sponsorship forms and full details can be downloaded from www.wiganrotaryclub.org.uk or ring 07813 471000.
