The Wigan Athletic players were back at Christopher Park today, Thursday 25 June, for the start of pre-season training, as they begin the preparation in the build up to the big kick off of the Sky Bet League One season on August 8.
The majority of the squad were back, with other players granted extra time, and after a morning of testing to check fitness levels, the players were out on the pitch this afternoon.
Sporting the club’s brand new training gear, manufactured by new official kit partner Kappa, the players were then put through a rigorous session under the eyes of manager Gary Caldwell and his coaching staff.
The group consisted of First Team and Development Squad players and Caldwell described the session as a terrific first workout. “The attitude of the boys was first class, they’ve come back in great condition and you can see there’s a desire to get on with the job,” he said.
The players will spend the rest of this week and next week in Wigan, before a warm weather training camp in Spain.
