The 18-year-old is highly regarded at Anfield, and like Sheyi Ojo who is already at Latics on loan from The Reds, is believed to be very much in Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers’ long-term plans.
Latics manager Malky Mackay, who knows Rodgers well from the time they spent together at Watford, said:
“We had a long chat about Jerome and we both feel that this is a positive step for him to make in his career, which will hopefully benefit both clubs.
“We have to thank Liverpool for allowing him to come to Wigan, but they have seen how well Sheyi is progressing and that we are a club who will nurture a young player with potential. We are all hopeful he can make a good contribution during his time here.”
Liverpool signed Sinclair as a 14-year-old from West Bromwich Albion and he became the youngest ever player to play for Liverpool when he came on against his former club in the Capital One Cup, aged 16 and six days.
He has scored 22 goals so far this season, in all competitions for the Under 18s and Under 21s.
Sinclair has 10 England Caps at Under 16 and 17 level, scoring four goals.
