Wigan Schoolboys Football Association finals.
Wigan Athletic Community Trust sponsored the finals of the Wigan Schoolboys Football Association (WSFA) last week.
The WSFA is a voluntary association run by teachers from Wigan schools that organises the Town’s School Boys teams and school competitions.
The Community Trust’s sponsorship of the finals came following the announcement of a new partnership between the Trust, Wigan Athletic Academy and the WSFA in January, with the link providing kits and football coaches to help with the running of the Association.
Paul Santus from the WSFA said: “Wigan Athletic Community Trust have really got behind the games this year and have built on the already existing links that we had to help push the Association forwards.
“As sponsors of the competition finals, the Trust have given us a big help as we’re a voluntary aided charity – hopefully with their backing these types of events can become bigger year on year, giving the students of Wigan something to aim to play in.”
Matches were held for Year 7’s through to Year 11’s and the results are listed below:
Year 7: Shevington 1-0 Fred Longworth
Year 8: Deanery 3-4 St Edmund Arrowsmith
Year 9: St Peter’s 0-1 St Edmund Arrowsmith
Year 10: Cansfield 1-2 Deanery
Year 11: Hawkley Hall 1-2 Byrchall
