Football Club Charity welcomes Councillor David Molyneux to its board of trustees.

Wigan Athletic’s award winning charity, Wigan Athletic Community Trust, is delighted to announce that Councillor David Molyneux has joined its board of trustees.

Cllr Molyneux, who is Deputy Leader of Wigan Council and a lifelong Wigan Athletic supporter, has joined the board at an exciting time for the charity, which last year worked with over 10,000 people across Wigan.

Chairman of the Trustees, Phillip Williams said: “We are delighted that Cllr Molyneux has agreed to join the Board.

“Since 2012 the Community Trust has more than doubled in size and now employs over 40 people.

“In partnership with the Football Club and with the support of our funders such as the Premier League, we aim to continue this growth and having people such as Cllr Molyneux working with us is important to this.

“He brings with him a wealth of knowledge and experience around the issues that affect the Wigan community and this can only benefit the ever expanding work we do.”

Cllr Molyneux said: "I am very pleased to join the board of Trustees of Wigan Athletic Community Trust.

“The Trust does fantastic work in the community across the Wigan Borough and I'm more than happy to be part of that work."

Wigan Athletic Chief Executive and Trustee Jonathan Jackson said: “Cllr Molyneux is a great signing for the Community Trust.

“As the Football Club looks forward to a new challenge, the work of the Community Trust will only become even more important to us and our special relationship with the people of Wigan.”

Cllr Molyneux, joins Phillip Williams, Club Chief Executive Jonathan Jackson, Brenda Spencer, David Culshaw and Philip Ivory as Trustees of the Community Trust.
