It's a third meeting in less than two months for the development sides of Wigan Athletic and Wrexham, and with 14 goals across the first two meetings it promises to be another exciting encounter at Robin Park Arena on Tuesday.
Latics triumphed 4-3 in both contests at Wrexham's Colliers Park Training Ground, the second of which came in the league and was Latics' last competitive fixture.
The victory shot Latics up to the top of the West division with seven points from three games, but without a fixture between then and now, Walsall have leap-frogged Peter Atherton's side, sitting in first place on 10 points from five matches.
Wrexham currently lie in fourth place, having won six points from a possible 15.
Louis Robles leads the goal scoring charts with eight in all competitions, three of which have come in two league appearances. Robles is followed by Danny O'Brien on four goals, three-in-three in league fixtures.
There have been goals aplenty in recent seasons between Latics and Wrexham, with a total of 31 in their previous six meetings.
Latics came from behind in the first meeting this season back in October, with O'Brien scoring a late winner three minutes from time, after earlier goals from Robles, Ryan Jennings and Jordan Flores.
The second meeting also relied on a winning goal in the final 10 minutes, again O'Brien delivering for his side, after a Robles double and Jennings penalty.
