Community Trust team of 40 Wigan 10K runners raise £4500 for the charity.

Earlier this year, a team of 40 runners completed the annual Wigan 10K race, raising money for Wigan Athletic Community Trust, with the total amount raised confirmed as an impressive £4500!

Several of the runners who completed the race presented a cheque for the money raised to Tom Flower, Head of Community, at half time during Wigan Athletic’s game against Burton Albion on Tuesday evening.

Tom said: “We’re incredibly grateful to all of the runners who took part in the 10k this year.

“The number of people choosing to take part and raise money for the Trust is increasing each year and it was a great sight on the day to see so many of them cross the finish line, tired but happy!”

Latics legends and current Wigan Athletic coaches Peter Atherton, Joe Parkinson and Mike Pollitt also ran the race for Wigan Athletic Community Trust, all finishing below the hour mark.

The fastest finisher for the Trust, Ash Pilling, completed the race in just 44 minutes 24 seconds!
