Community join in with Girls’ Football Week celebrations.
Wigan Athletic Community Trust showed their support for Girls’ Football Week last week, holding several football coaching sessions around Wigan.
Girls from St John Rigby College got involved with a Soccercise session, combining football and aerobics for a fun, football-filled way for the girls to keep fit.
Steph Greensill, the Trust’s Girls’ Football and Sports Coach, provided twelve girls football coaching sessions throughout the week, which are supported by the FA and the Premier League, including one for St John Rigby girls’ football team, who went on to win their game against West Cheshire College on Wednesday 4-3.
Steph said: “Girls’ Football Week was a great way to raise the profile of girls football and the opportunities that are out there for women and girls to get involved with the sport – hopefully even more girls will come down to sessions across the country after seeing what is available!”
Details of the Trust’s girls’ football sessions can be found in the Winter 2015 Activity Timetable.
Girls interested in playing football can also get involved with Wigan Athletic Ladies.
