Yanic Wildschut and Donald Love join in with Community Trust half term Soccer School.

Yanic Wildschut and Donald Love paid a visit to one of Wigan Athletic Community Trust’s half term Soccer Schools yesterday, joining in with twenty youngsters at the Standish camp.

The Latics pair took on the junior players in mini football matches, as well as playing a game of ‘treasure hunt’ with the younger footballers, splitting into teams and trying to win and keep hold of the most footballs in sixty seconds.

Yanic also shared some of his football knowledge and top tips with the camp, hoping that his words would leave an impression on the players.

Wildschut said: “When you’re young you need to learn the football basics and if you learn them well it sticks with you as you grow older, so I just shared some of the simple things that I learned back in the day and I hope they can do something with that and it helps them to become good players.

“When you see young supporters at events like this, all in their Wigan kits and playing football, it’s a great feeling – it’s good to give something back to the kids, they seemed to enjoy it and I definitely did too.”

Over 100 junior footballers have played at this October’s camps, learning and practicing new skills with the Community Trust coaches and playing hours of football.

Latics Soccer Schools run during every school holiday at several locations around Wigan.
