Latics sign defender Andy Kellett from Bolton Wanderers.
- Bolton Wanderers full-back Andy Kellett signs for Latics.
- 21-year-old spent part of last season on loan at Manchester United.
- “Andy provides more competition in that area” - Caldwell.
The 21-year-old underwent a medical at the DW Stadium today and put pen to paper on a three year deal at Latics, just prior to the transfer window closing.
Kellett spent the second half of last season on loan at Manchester United and played ten games for the Development Squad. He also played 15 games on loan for Plymouth Argyle earlier last season as well as making his full debut for Wanderers in the Sky Bet Championship.
Gary Caldwell expects him to add great competition to the squad:
“Reece James is the only recognised left back in the squad, so it’s clear we needed to strengthen in that position, but we don’t just want to bring in players for the sake of it and Andy is one of those we have been looking at for a while and we’re delighted he’s become available. Hopefully he can develop here and start fulfilling his undoubted potential.”
Bolton-born Kellett came through the Bolton Academy and made his debut for the club in April 2014. He leaves having played four times in total.
