Schools Sports and After School Sports Clubs return for new school year.

Wigan Athletic Community Trust are heading back to school, as their Schools Sports and After School Sports Clubs returned on Tuesday for the new school year.

Seventeen schools are signed up to receive yearlong PE curriculum support from the Community Trust coaches, with another thirty schools receiving half termly and after school support throughout the year. All sessions provided are supported by the Premier League.

All PE lessons follow the national curriculum, with After School Clubs including a variety of sports, from football to cricket, all aiming to keep Primary School students engaged and entertained.

Stephen Hardacre, Head Teacher at St Luke’s Primary School, said: “Since Wigan Athletic Community Trust have come into the school we’ve seen a really positive impact on staff and pupils.

“What we’ve really seen is an increase in pupils’ enthusiasm.

“There is a real commitment from children to sport – they don’t see it as something that they have to do any more, it’s something that they want to do.”
