Jack Hendry says he cannot wait to get started at Wigan Athletic after signing for the club from Partick Thistle on a four-year-deal.
The defender, who has featured for the Jags’ first team on five occasions, has enjoyed a growing reputation in the game and he feels the DW Stadium is the best place for him to continue his career.
“I’m absolutely delighted to come to Wigan Athletic and I can’t wait to get started,” Hendry said. “It’s a massive club, the stature of the club is there for all to see and the manager phoned me last night and I just can’t wait to play for him.
“He said he wanted to secure me, wanted me to be here and that was very positive.”
Describing his style of play, Hendry told LaticsPlayer HD:
“I’d like to think I’m a modern day centre back; I like to get the ball down and play football, I feel I’m good in the air and aggressive too but I still have a lot to work on. I’ve had a good start to my career and hope to continue that here.”
Hendry featured against Latics in pre-season at Firhill and impressed his new manager on that occasion.
He’s now looking forward to linking up with his new teammates:
“I’ve played a few games for Partick, it’s quite a big rise for me; I played against Wigan Athletic in pre-season as well and that was a great experience for me, it helped my development and I’m looking forward to getting into the group.
“I want to work as hard as possible, get into the starting XI and then progress from there.”
