Latics sign defender Jack Hendry from Partick Thistle.

  • Young Partick Thistle defender signs for Latics.
  • 20-year-old defender has made five first team appearances for the Jags.
  • “He has great potential, we hope he can realise it with us” – Gary Caldwell.
Wigan Athletic can confirm that defender Jack Hendry has joined the club from Partick Thistle for an undisclosed fee.

He travelled to Wigan today in time for the transfer deadline and underwent a medical before putting pen to paper on a four year deal at the DW Stadium.

The highly-rated 20-year-old defender was signed by Partick in 2014 after coming through the ranks at Dundee United and has made five first team appearances to date after making his debut in May.

He featured against Latics in the pre-season match at Firhill in July and Caldwell said:

"Jack impressed that night and he is definitely one for the future, a defender with huge potential and he’s one we have been watching.

"There were other clubs interested so we’re delighted he has chosen to come to us.  Let’s hope he can start realising his potential with us at Wigan Athletic."
