Young full back delighted to sign on Transfer Deadline Day for Wigan Athletic.
- 21-year-old signs on three-year-deal from Bolton Wanderers.
- Full back believes he will fit right in with Gary Caldwell’s side.
- Familiar faces include Reece James, Sanmi Odelusi and Kevin McNaughton for Kellett.
Wigan Athletic’s latest summer recruit, Andy Kellett says he is buzzing to finally complete his move to the DW Stadium from Bolton Wanderers.
Speaking exclusively to the club’s official website, the 21-year-old described his delight at signing a three-year-deal with Latics.
“I’m buzzing to finally sign,” he said. “It’s been a long day and it’s great to come here and I can’t wait to get started.
“The club has been in the Premier League in recent years and is still a massive club and I just want to help the team as much as I can.”
Kellett played as a wing back during a loan spell at Plymouth Argyle last season and won the club’s Young Player of the Year award, and he believes he will fit right in to Gary Caldwell’s system.
“I’m quite energetic, I like to keep possession and use my pace,” Kellett explained. “I’m used to playing in a 3-5-2 as I was on loan last year at Plymouth Argyle and they played it there and it worked really well.”
Kellett’s settling in period will be made easier by the presence of former teammates including Reece James, and the Bolton-born defender is looking forward to getting started.
“I know Reece James from Manchester United,” he added. “I’ve met some of the lads from playing and I know Kevin McNaughton and Sanmi Odelusi from Bolton Wanderers and when I trained earlier the lads were great with me.”
