Community Trust football programme offering FA Level One coaching qualification to ex-servicemen.

Do you want to coach football? Not sure how you can earn the qualifications to do so?

Wigan Athletic Community Trust’s Football 4 Forces programme is offering opportunities for members of the armed forces community to earn an FA Level One Coaching badge, for free, through taking part in their Football 4 Forces programme.

Football 4 Forces sessions are for ex-servicemen, reserves, cadets and those still serving in the armed forces, aged 16-65, and are provided thanks to funding from the Ministry of Defence Covenant Fund and with support from Wigan Council and Wigan Borough Clinical Commissioning Group.

Carl Fisher, who served in the Queen’s Lancashire Regiment and has earned coaching badges through the Football 4 Forces programme, said: “Coaching is something I’ve always wanted to do and coming to the Football 4 Forces sessions has given me the opportunity to fulfil that desire.

“Being an ex-army lad, it’ll be great to be able to coach the rest of the Football 4 Forces players – I’ll make sure to push them hard whenever I’m in charge of the sessions!”
