Latics' Under 18s fell to their third consecutive defeat of the new EFL Youth Alliance season on Saturday morning, after Callum Lang's early penalty was cancelled out by Rob Harker and Jesse Arizie in the final 10 minutes to clinch a 2-1 victory for Bury FC at Christopher Park.
Lang was his usual dangerous self from the outset, winning possession back high up the pitch from Bury's young centre half, before breaking away to win and convert his penalty just 14 minutes in.
After a steady first half, Latics struggled to control the second period, with Shakers' substitute Arizie impressing, assisting for Harker with nine minutes to play, before catching out Sam Stubbs and Theo Roberts to steal in for the winner with six minutes remaining.
Latics: Roberts, Golden, Taylor, Forecast, Stubbs, Downey, Randell (Malumo 65), Fitton, Sang, Lang (Banigime 84), Powell (McGuffie 84)
