Wigan Athletic fan Gareth Pattenden running marathon prior to Saturday's game with Ipswich Town.
Dad-to-be and Latics fan Gareth Pattenden is completing the next leg of five marathons he is set to complete before the birth of his first child in January on Saturday.
Gareth and his family are season card holders at the DW Stadium and he will be meeting them at the ground after he takes the long route by running from his home in Mossley to the game.
Gareth is raising money for ‘When You Wish Upon a Star’, a charity that looks to make the dreams come true of children living with life-threatening illnesses.
He will attempt a marathon every Saturday morning – in a Christmas jumper - in December, including on Christmas Eve and New Year’s Eve as he looks to raise funds for a great charity.
Gareth, who has already raised over £1,000, said: “I decided to do this to raise money for a children’s charity which gives seriously ill children an opportunity to have a wish granted.
“I wanted to do a last big challenge before the baby is born in January, and the chance to raise money for a great cause too was one I saw as worthwhile.
“I hope Latics supporters can donate a little and, if so, they should visit my Just Giving page."
