  • A minute’s silence will be held prior to the game
  • Club to remember victims of this week’s plane crash in Colombia

The club can confirm that a minute’s silence will be held prior to tomorrow’s Sky Bet Championship match at home to Derby County to remember the victims of this week’s plane crash in Colombia.

The aircraft was carrying players and officials from Brazilian side Associação Chapecoense de Futebol. The team had been due to play in the final of the Copa Sudamericana, against Colombian side Atletico Nacional on Wednesday night.

On the approach to Medelin airport, the plane crashed, killing 71 of the 77 people on board, including 19 first team players, coach Caio Júnior and other members staff and accompanying journalists.

In line with all other clubs this weekend, Wigan Athletic would like to carry out this tribute as a symbol of our heartfelt condolences.
