Wigan Athletic players join in with fifty junior footballers at Tyldesley Soccer School.

Over 250 junior footballers have played at Wigan Athletic Community Trust’s Soccer Schools this February half term and Will Grigg and David Perkins joined in with the fun at the brand new Tyldesley Soccer School last Thursday.

More than fifty youngsters played with the Wigan Athletic stars, who gave a helping hand to some of the teams in the afternoon’s football tournament.

Will Grigg showed the camp how to take the perfect penalty and David Perkins impressed with his shot too, coolly firing his spot kick into the goal.

Will said: “It’s been a great day, it was good to see the kids really getting into it.”

“When it came to the penalties I was a little bit nervous taking the first one in front of the kids, but I made sure it hit the back of the net. David proved he could take one too – he might be asking to take the penalties from now on but I’m not sure that I’ll be letting him!”

“It’s great to see so many children joining in and having such a great time and it’s brilliant that the Community put on these camps every school holiday.”

The Community Trust’s holiday Soccer Schools provide opportunities for 6-14 year olds to play football and to learn and improve their skills with the Trust’s coaches.

Details of the Trust’s Easter Soccer Schools will be confirmed in due course and will be available to book here.
