LOAN REPORT: LAVERCOMBE AND TORQUAY CLAIM VITAL WIN

Torquay United needed a strong result against 21st place Boreham Wood on Saturday, and they delivered the goods thanks to Nathan Blissetts's goal, as the Gulls held onto a 1-0 lead to add much needed points to their National League tally.

Dan Lavercombe featured in goal for the full 90 minutes, pulling off a fine save in the second half to keep his side ahead.

The Gulls remain bottom of the division, with their tally now standing at 23 points, 10 behind the safety mark, but with two games in hand over 20th place Halifax.

After a goal scoring debut against Altrincham last week, Danny O'Brien featured for 85 minutes in Chester's 2-2 draw away to Kidderminster Harriers on Saturday.

The Blues' collected a hard-earned point on the road, with Steve Burr's side 15th in the National League on 39 points, seven clear of the relegation zone.

HALIFAX 4 GRIMSBY TOWN 2 - RYAN JENNINGS

Ryan Jennings made his Grimsby Town debut on Saturday, but unfortunately the Mariners ran out to a 4-2 defeat on the road at Halifax.

Jennings featured for 75 minutes and went close to scoring on a number of occasions, before being replaced by Anthony Straker.

Grimsby remain third in the National League on 59 points, seven points inside the play-offs, but 19 points behind leaders Cheltenham Town with two games in hand.

READING 3 WEST BROMWICH ALBION 1 - ANDREW TAYLOR

Andrew Taylor wasn't involved in the match day squad as Reading progressed into the quarter finals of the Emirates FA Cup.

The Royals now go on to host Crystal Palace at the Madejski Stadium.

HUDDERSFIELD TOWN 1 WOLVERHAMPTON WANDERERS 0 - EMYR HUWS

Midfielder Emyr Huws remains sidelined, but the Terriers collected three points regardless with Nahki Wells on target as they won 1-0 at home to Wolverhampton Wanderers.

Huddersfield currently sit 15th in the Sky Bet Championship on 38 points, 12 clear of the relegation zone.

DUNDEE UNITED 2 HEARTS 1 - BILLY MCKAY

Billy Mckay was absent from the squad on Saturday as Dundee United collected three vital points after a 2-1 victory over third place Hearts at Tannadice.

United's victory lifts them onto 17 points for the season, but they remain rooted to the foot of the Scottish Premiership, 11 points behind Kilmarnock in 11th and Partick Thistle in 10th.
