Wigan Athletic can confirm that goalkeeper Dan Lavercombe has joined the club from Torquay United for an undisclosed fee. As part of the transfer agreement, Lavercombe will spend the remainder of the 2015/16 season back on loan at the Plainmoor club.
The 19-year-old signs following a successful trial period with Latics, and puts pen to paper on a two and a half year deal.
Lavercombe has featured 11 times for Vanarama National League side Torquay so far this season, having made his first team debut for the club in April 2015 against Aldershot Town, aged just 18.
Manager Gary Caldwell said Lavercombe is a welcome young addition to the club:
"Dan is a young goalkeeper who has lots of potential, he's impressed us a lot during the short time that he's been with us.
"He won't be here straight away because he'll be going back to Torquay to play games for the rest of the season, but he's a real find for the future."
