Tributes to Steve Gohouri from former team mates.

Following the news of our former defender Steve Gohouri passing away, a number of his former Wigan Athletic team mates have paid tribute, including manager Gary Caldwell, goalkeeping coach Mike Pollitt and former Latics midfielders Mohamed Diame and Charles N'Zogbia, as well as current club chairman David Sharpe.

A number of former Latics players also paid their respects on Twitter.

Gary Caldwell

"I played alongside Steve as a team mate for Wigan and it's terrible when such a young life ends, whatever the reasons, which are still unclear I believe.

"I heard our fans singing his name during the match then got the news after the game. I'm very shocked and on behalf of everyone at the club, all we can do is send our thoughts to his family and those affected. A very sad day that puts things in perspective."

Mike Pollitt

"He was such a lovely lad, I always got on really well with him.

"He'll probably be most remembered for that famous goal at Anfield, and for helping us stay in the top flight while he was here."

Mohamed Diame

"Steve was a special guy, I'll always remember him and our time at Wigan with great fondness. It's a real shock.  My thoughts are with his family.

"RIP my friend."

Charles N'Zogbia

"Steve was my brother at Wigan.  I send my condolences to his family. We had special times together at the club."

David Sharpe

"Although I didn't know Steve personally, he was and always will be part of the Wigan Athletic family and we are all devastated.  I would like to send out all of our love to his family and friends he leaves behind at this extremely sad time."

Other former team mates also paid their respects on Twitter.
