Community Trust team reach quarter finals of Premier League 4 Sport tennis competition.
A team of tennis players who join in with Wigan Athletic Community Trust’s Premier League 4 Sport programme represented Latics at a national competition at Wimbledon yesterday.
The team, made up of Ellie Toone, Charlotte Naylor, Max Boardman and Ethan Barrett from Fred Longworth High School beat teams from Bolton Wanderers, Portsmouth, Southampton and West Ham on their way to the quarter finals, before a tough Aston Villa side knocked them out of the competition.
Ahead of taking part in the competition, the team had the fantastic opportunity to watch Britain’s number 1 Andy Murray in centre court action at Wimbledon, as he secured his place in the semi-finals in a five set thriller against Jo-Wilfried Tsonga.
